RECENT EXHIBIT

This piece was created for the University of Michigan's bicentennial art exhibit, Future Former.

ARTIST STATEMENT:

The word universal is defined as, "Of, or relating to, the universe, all nature, or all existing things; affecting, concerning, or involving all; present everywhere."

Amidst the current political chaos and social unrest, I felt the need to reflect and express what it means to be human — to exist in the physical and metaphysical realms. This piece incorporates vintage anatomy illustrations, world maps, star charts, diagrams, and the phases of the moon. All of these symbolize natural cycles and phenomena which are unending and undisturbed by our brief individual existences. It is both personal and applicable to all, and hopefully causes us to slow down, breathe, and regain a sense of wonder, awe, connection, and humility.
